    Sharing

    Sharing

Words and music by Kristin Lems © 1989

    Chorus:

    Sharing, sharing, isn't it fun?

To benefit two people, not only one

To benefit three people, four people, more

If we can't live by sharing, then what is life for?

     1.  Your ball and my ball are no longer known

Your roses, my roses got intergrown

Yours and mine ours became, long may it be

May what I have serve you and you have serve me

Chorus:  Sharing, sharing, isn't it fun?

To benefit two people, not only one

To benefit three people, four people, more

If we can't live by sharing, then what is life for?

    2.  Once we were covetous of others' things

Of your clothes, of my nose, your ribbons, my rings

But now that we're wiser and learned how to share,

For all of life's needs, there is plenty to spare

    Chorus

    3.  We can share languages, we can share food

We can share in a feeling or share in a mood

And we can share secrets -- it wouldn't be wrong

Or share in a harmony singing this song!

    Chorus (twice)

    The Funny Little Clock

    The Funny Little Clock

In my room, there sits a little clock

That doesn't say tick and doesn't say tock

Can you imagine such a funny thing?

And what's even worse, the alarm doesn't ring

I took a look at my funny little clock

That doesn't say tick and doesn't say tock

Big red numbers and many secret powers

If you surprise it, it blinks at you for hours!

It's a super duper electronic clock

But it doesn't say tick and it doesn't say tock

It's got no face and it doesn't have a ring

And it's got no hands, what a poor little thing!

So if you get an electronic clock

That doesn't say tick and doesn't say tock

No ring, no face, no hands like mine

Don't be upset cause it still tells the time!

    Questions (Here's Where Science Begins)

    Questions (Here's where Science Begins)

Questions, questions, a question following a question

Asking questions, go ahead, jump in

    Cause that's how science begins

How much?  How big?  How bright? Can I see that far?

Learning all about our earthly star cause

    That's how science begins

    Here's where science begins!

There are so many things to know

Where do we start? Where do we go?

    Curiosity is science's birth

So you see, we'd better start right down on earth

    Touching, tasting, looking, smelling

    Listening, thinking, using everything

    Cause that's how science begins

A test tube, a petri dish, thermometer, a data list

Any kid can be a scientist cause

    That's how science begins

    Here's where science begins!

There are so many things to know

Where do we start? Where do we go?

    Curiosity is science's birth

So you see, we'd better start right down on earth

Collecting, sharing, sending data, make a theory

    Confirming, and soon we'll see

    That that's how science begins

Questions, questions, a question following a question

Asking questions, go ahead, jump in

The world is our science lab, so come right in

    Cause that's how science begins

Here's where science, here's where science

    See where science begins!

    The Little Engine that Could

    The Little Engine that Could

Words and music by Kristin Lems

© 1989 Kleine Ding Music (BMI)  from the album Sharing

I’ll tell you a secret if you can keep it

It’s something that you’ll want to know

It’s the story of the Little Engine that Could

It’s helped me along, keeping me strong

The engine kept at it when others had had it

    And everyone had given in

Just keep plugging away a little every day

And there’s a pretty good chance you’ll win

The other part to it, is when you start to do it

Look for help along the way

Everybody has to carry their weight!

Ask for some help, don’t be afraid

Stoke up your engine, harness that tension

    Never rush but never stop

It’s an uphill climb, so take your time

It isn’t easy but you’ll reach the top!

The little engine stayed right on its track

It tried and tried some more

As its wheels went clickety clack

Inch by inch you’ll move that load ahead

It becomes second nature in time

Remember what the Little Engine said, it said

    [music]

Keep on a huffing, keep on a puffin

I think I feel I know we can

You’ll reach the top of the hill, I know you will

Just say “I think I feel I know we can!”

You’ll reach the top of the hill, I know you will

Just say “I think I feel I know we can!”

  • 01:56 Story Lyrics I Prefer the Stairs

    1. Most of the time, I prefer the stairs

Down on the first floor, I leave all my troubles and cares

My feet are a thumpin as I climb toward the sky

It gets my heart pumping, a natural high…as I climb

    2. Up to the landing, the second floor

No time for standing, I've gotta keep moving some more

A good pair of gym shoes is all I require

And a good set of lungs so that I won't get tired

    Now higher….

    3.  Up to the third floor, still goin strong

My friends on one waiting for the elevator to come along

I've bought a few minutes, I've had a good time

And I sing at the top of my lungs as I climb because

Most of the time I prefer the stairs,

Most of the time I prefer the stairs,

Most of the time….I prefer the stairs.

  • 01:58 Lyrics Silence

    Silence

We all knows the noises that animals make

We all know the sounds of machines

But this is a song that is just for the sake

Of such creatures as rabbits and goldfish and snakes

That are not heard, but quite often seen

What does a fish say?  How bout a turtle?

What kind of noise can you hear from a star?

    There you are!

Many things are important that don't make a noise

Such as a baby that's sleeping

Even an oyster's annoyed by a noise

And what sound does ivy make creeping?

    What noise does snow make?

    How bout a flower?

What sort of sound will come out of a photograph?

    Not a laugh!

Many things are noisy and silent in turns

Such as an egg that's not breaking

Or, for example, a match before it burns

Or a milkshake that's no longer shaking

We all know the noises that instruments make

The sounds of TV show violence

    But take a little minute

To hear the space that's in it

And find some peace of mind…in silence

    Don't Forget to Breathe

    Don’t Forget to Breathe

Words and music by Kristin Lems

© 1989 Kleine Ding Music (BMI) from the CD/book Sharing

Don’t forget to breathe, don’t forget to breathe

    Don’t forget to – breathe

You will be amazed at the things a good breath can achieve!

Don’t forget to sigh, don’t forget to sigh

    Don’t forget to – sigh

Don’t pass it by, sigh a good sigh, give it a try.

You can take a cleansing breath

    Or a breath of fire

You can huff you can puff, but whatever you do, respire!

Don’t forget to blow, don’t forget to blow

    Don’t forget to --- blow

Though troubles come and go, you can blow

    You can take it slow

Just let the air come in, let the air go out,

Let the air come – in

Once you begin it’s easy to do it again.

You can blow the candles out

    Or blow the clouds about

    Blow like the northern wind

Get a good dose of oxygen!

You can have a slow intake

    Just give yourself a break!

Let the wind fill your sails

    Good breathing never fails!

Don’t forget to breathe, don’t forget to breathe

    Don’t forget to – breathe!

Gotta get enough in, keep up the huff puffin’

Keep up the ration of oxygenation

Keep the air a goin’, keep it blowin’

    And you’ll find relief!

If You Want to Know About the World

If you want to know about the world

Words and music by Kristin Lems

If you want to know about the world

Know about the world, know about the world

If you want to know about the world

You've got to use your eyes

Cause your eyes can tell you a lot of things about

Rainbows and butterfly wings you would

Be amazed what fun it brings if you

Want to know about the world

If you want to know about the world

Know about the world, know about the world

If you want to know about the world

You've got to use your ears

Cause your ears can tell you a lot of things about

Rolling thunder and the bird that sings you would

Be amazed what fun it brings if you

Want to know about the world

If you want to know about the world

Know about the world, know about the world

If you want to know about the world

You've got to use your nose

Cause your nose can tell you a lot of things about

What's in the oven when the timer rings, you would

Be amazed what fun it brings if you

Want to know about the world

If you want to know about the world

Know about the world, know about the world

If you want to know about the world

You've got to use your tongue

Cause your tongue can tell you a lot of things about

Hot and cold and spicey food that stings, you would

Be amazed what fun it brings if you

Want to know about the world

If you want to know about the world

Know about the world, know about the world

If you want to know about the world

You've got to use your fingers

Cause your fingers can tell you a lot of things about

Writin' words and putting beads on strings, you would

Be amazed what fun it brings if you

Want to know about the world

If you want to know about the world

Know about the world, know about the world

If you want to know about the world

You've got to use your feet

Your feet can tell you a lot of things about

    The Emperor's New Clothes

    The Emperor's New Clothes

Words and music by Kristin Lems  © 1989 Kleine Ding Music (BMI)

    1. The story’s old but it’s time I told this tale of worldwide fame

Once there was an emperor, and I don’t remember his name.

He went out bare in the open air, in front of everyone’s nose

But it took a little boy to say “Oy yoy you! the emperor has no clothes!”

And it took a little girl to run tell the world, “Hey, the emperor has no clothes!”

    2. The Grand Vizier whispered in his ear, “Your robe is just divine,

And only those of royal blood can see a cloth so fine.”

The vizier looked sly as the king walked by, the crowd looked on in shock

He felt a little breeze up and down his knees, and they began to knock!

    3. “Hold up my train!” the king proclaimed, “It’s dragging on the ground!”

The page looked down to take the gown, there was nothing to be found.

The parade went on, the character went on, the villagers stood mute

Till one hyped up little kid piped up  - “He’s in his birthday suit!”

    4. The emperor has no clothes you know, he’s naked as can be

You can see him strut by every day in your community

He’s only strong if we play along, if we expose him we’ll win

For even a king with robes and ring has a soft underbelly of skin

For even a king with robes and ring has a soft underbelly of skin!

  • 03:26 Story Lyrics Squeaky Sneakers

    Squeaky Sneakers

    To Carol Roth with appreciation

She's always in motion, when she gets the notion

The next thing you know, it's been done

And she'll somehow find time for you,

    Bring you some brownies, too

Listen, you'll know that she's come

    Cause you can hear her

    Chorus

    Squeaky sneakers, squeaky squeaky sneakers

Sneaky squeekers on her feet, and she's

Always on her toes, squeaking everywhere she goes

    Always movin to the beat!

She's pretty busy, enough to make you dizzy

    Camping, cooking, teaching too

With a kid hanging from each hand, tracking in loads of sand

What's a poor mother to do?  Keep moving in her

    Chorus

She's always informal, for her it's just normal

There's no time for putting on airs and she's

Up for suggestions, and brimming with questions

In a world where there's so much to share! Especially in her

    Chorus  twice

    He Makes that Baby Laugh

    He Makes that Baby Laugh

Words and music by Kristin Lems c 1990 Kleine Ding Music (BMI)

From the album Sharing on Carolsdatter Productions

    1. Mama gives baby everything, she gives food and shelter and love

She gives stroller rides all fall and spring, she does far far more than enough

And she's always there when the baby cries, she takes Baby's photograph

But the one thing only Papa can do, he can make that baby laugh

And oh, how the laughter rings when he makes that baby laugh!

    2. Mama walks in, the baby greets her with a smile from ear to ear

And no one but Mama knows how to ease those baby fears

And it's too bad Papa has to work so hard, but he needs that time-and-a-half

So he waits till the baby wakes, and then he makes that baby laugh

And oh, how the laughter rings when he makes that baby laugh!

    3. He might do crazy, silly things - he might put on a funny hat

Or dance, or tickle a little bit because Baby always likes that

And he sings and shouts and jumps about, and acts just a little bit daft

And Mama joins in the happy din when he makes that baby laugh

And oh, how the rafters ring when he makes that baby laugh!

  • 02:03 Story Lyrics A Little Night Song

    A Little Night Music

Every night when the baby goes to bed

All of the animals gather round her head

And they sing a little song, and it goes like this:

Goodnight, sleep tight, here's a goodnight kiss

Raggedy Ann is sitting on the right

With her shoe button eyes keeping watch all night

And on her left sits loyal Big Bird

He says, Be quiet now, don't say a word

And all through the night, while the baby is asleep

The teddy bear waits there and doesn't make a peep

And the little cloth horse is standing by

To take baby's dreams up into the sky

Every night when the baby goes to bed

All of the animals dance around her head

And they sing a little song, and it goes like this:

Goodnight, sleep tight, here's a goodnight kiss
